A coalition of local advocacy groups including local Indivisibles, Westside Democratic Clubs, and other organizations are putting on 'Persistence Picnic 2: Creating Community to Flip the House' on September 22 from 3om 11am to 3pm at Veterans Memorial Park in Culver City. It is also a fundraiser for the Westside Democratic HQ & you can donate here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/persistencepicnic

To regain a majority in the House, Democrats need a net gain of 23 seats in this November's midterms. Los Angeles is safely blue, but several neighboring districts are in play and in order to win, Democrats need to turn out the vote in record numbers. To do this, volunteers are needed to phone bank and canvas for the candidates that are running in these competitive So Cal races to ensure a victory in the November 6th primary.

Democratic resentative for the candidates in Congressional Districts CA 25 & 45 will be there & local elected representatives including Los Angeles City Councilman Mike Bonin, Culver City Council members Alex Fisch & Meghan Sahli Wells, State Senator Holly Mitchel will be speaking. In addition, local community groups working on pressing issues in our community, like immigration, women’s rights and the environment, are being invited to set up a booth to connect with potential volunteers.

The event is happening in the picnic area of Veterans Memorial Park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m and is free and open to the public. Food will not be served, but attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch. The park has several barbeque grills, a children’s play area and a large open area where attendees can spread blankets and enjoy a day at the park.

Please note: all attendees are required to follow these regulations of the permit issued by the city of Culver City: (1) Parking is allowed in the park’s parking lot and on the main streets bordering the park only; parking is not allowed in nearby residential areas. (2) Alcohol is prohibited. (3) Only service animals will be admitted. Pets and comfort animals are not allowed in the park.
